every abt sock is thoughtfully designed with a focus on aesthetic variety, each pattern crafted to express a distinct sense of style and individuality. once the concept is complete, our professional coding team converts the design into digital pattern codes, allowing knitting machines to interpret every pixel and weave colors with precision.
each machine operates at varying needle counts (96N, 144N, 168N, 200N), which determine the sock's fineness. the higher the needle count, the finer the weave and the softer the touch. while most brands knit with 96 to 144 needles, abt uses 168 to 200 — creating a tighter weave and superior softness that defines our quality, resulting in a smoother, more refined, and luxuriously soft texture.

in general, 95% of socks on the market are made from six primary yarn types: cotton, polyester, nylon, spandex, wool, and bamboo. the true difference lies in the quality and composition each brand chooses. among cotton varieties, combed cotton offers the softest and most refined feel. it is created by literally combing the fibers to remove impurities and shorter strands, leaving only long, smooth fibers that feel gentle against the skin.
while many brands use ordinary cotton and polyester for easier dyeing, abt uses a carefully developed blend of 75% combed cotton, 22% nylon, and 3% spandex to achieve the ideal balance of softness, durability, and breathability. we also use a yarn count ranging from 80s-120s depending on the design, while most brands use between 20s to 60s. a higher yarn count means finer, smoother fibers.
we use 0% polyester for a reason — it is rougher to the touch, traps odor, and lacks breathability. so now you know what type of socks to avoid! and thanks to our jacquard technology, we can achieve intricate, more vibrant designs without relying on polyester-based dyes, which tend to fade over time.
cotton - the most common natural fiber used in socks. soft, breathable, and strong, sourced from the cotton plant. (types: organic, mercerized, combed, modal.)
polyester - the most widely used synthetic fiber. washable and wrinkle-resistant.
nylon - adds elasticity and strength while remaining lightweight, enhancing both durability and comfort.
spandex - highly elastic and resistance to body oils, can stretch over 500% without losing shape.
wool - naturally wrinkle-resistant and temperature-regulating. keeps feet warm, dry, and comfortable. (types: sheep, goat, alpaca, rabbit.)
bamboo - naturally soft and smooth to the touch, but significantly less durable.
sock manufacturing
programmed codes from step 1 guide the knitting machines, where hundreds of needles interlock threads to form the sock fabric. the first in-line inspection is performed here to detect and correct issues in length, stitch tension, and pattern alignment.
after knitting, the socks are tubular and open at the toe, they undergo a linking or sewing process to close this section. each pair is sewn individually, allowing workers to identify and remove any defects during the second in-line inspection.
in the boarding process, socks are shaped and fixed under specific pressure and temperature. steam is applied to soften the fibers and set the structure. once boarding is complete, the socks are air-dried to maintain softness and form.
a final inspection ensures there are no visible defects. the socks are then paired, and passed on to be labelled.
